2021

Christmas Magic! Carols round the tree as the lights are switched on and the snow arrives - so unexpected and such a wonderful event.

Remembrance Sunday at the War Memorial with a marvellous turn-out to honour the fallen of World Wars and more recent conflicts.  The service was led by Rev Rob Young.  Wreaths were laid by local groups and organisations.

School Armistice Day tribute led by Rev Rob Young at the War Memorial.

Scarecrow Trail - to follow last year’s Halloween project, the theme for 2021 was “Superheros” with Spiderman featured prominently.

Boundary Walk  after the socially-distanced 2020 walk, it was possible to have a more sociable walk in 2021!

3-leg charity - a 24-hour marathon saw world records broken while raising money for Parkinson’s research.

Morris  - our friends the Kennet Morris Men made their one-and-only outing and performance for 2021 a visit to the Calleva.  Hopefully we can celebrate the start of 2022 properly with the traditional New Year visit

Beer Festival 2022  good beer and ciders, gins and wines as well, good food, good crowd, good music, another great evening!

Fete and Dog Show 2022 – another great village event.

Raising money for research into Parkinson’s, the Silchester Community Choir and Friends entertained at Silchester Farm, 17 July.

A wonderful Jubilee weekend - from the beacon lighting on Thursday, street parties on Friday through to the party on the common on Sunday when the weather was perfectly timed and it looked as if the whole village, together with family and friends turned out to celebrate.

Palm Sunday 2022 - kind weather and a welcome return with Alfie the donkey and Rev Rob Young leading the entry to the Roman city on the procession from the village hall to the church.  After a two-year covid-gap this was a very welcome return to the village calendar.

Mothering Sunday - lovely flowers, but where were the children??

Playground maintenance - 2022 bark spread working party - many hands make light work, all done and dusted very quickly, thank you to all that assisted.

Village Hall AGM - Steve in the chair and wine with nibbles for those attending!
